~ Alligators can stay underwater for 20 to 30 minutes easily if they have to. This can extend from an hour to 24 hours with preparation (i.e. slowing heart beat, temperature, adjusting to environment)
~ Alligators lay between 20 and 60 eggs depending on their size. The average is 30 to 40.
~ Only 1 in about 100 baby alligators lives as they can caught by predators such as
turtles, snakes, fish and birds
~Alligators have transparent third eyelids giving them underwater protection.
~ Alligators have 80 teeth; 40 top, 40 bottom used for grabbing and holding, not for cutting.
~Young alligators can replace teeth every year or so.
~Mother 'gators will care for their young for up to two years.
~ Alligators use their feet to swim slow and to keep balance in water and use their tail to swim fast

~The animals are semi-aquatic and always found in or near the water.
~The alligators can be very vocal with the young typically make a squeak or yip sounds and adults will roar or grunt, depending on the circumstance
