picture of tuna fish Tuna Fact Sheet ~ Tuna live in the open sea and not really near the shore ~ tuna fish stay in the upper parts of the water often called "mixed layer" where the sun can reach as tuna fish like it warm ~ Tuna fish like to travel a lot and move around the vast ocean space ~ Tuna fish are never still,never rest and are alwyas on the move ~ they get their oxygen by swimming with an open mouth which propels little water jests throguh their gills where they extract the oxygen from- so they always need to move to get oenough oxygen to survive ~ Tuna fish eat other includes fishes, crustaceans and mollusks. ~ Female tuna fish lay eggs in the open water. and the eggs are fertilized by males who release their sperm in the water where the eggs have been laid. ~ tuna fish larvae usually hatch from the eggs within 24 hours. ~ Tuna fish are not cold-blooded animals like other fish but rather maintain a have a body temperature which is a bit warmer than the water in which they are swimming in . The warm blood that rushes through teir gills allows them to extract more oxygen ~ Tuna Fish use a camouflage for predators ,their belly is lightly colored- so when the predator looks up he can hardly see tha fish against the sunlight.
