What is a fossil?


~ Fossils are the remains of plants or animals that lived a long time ago or the evidence of them.ains of plants or animals that lived a long time ago or the evidence of them.
~ some people believe that in order to be called fossil an inclusion had to be a living thing
~ But parts like feathers, hair and bones can be fossilized too and retain their flexibility and composition

~ But a fossil does not have to be the actual living thing, it can also be a "cast" of the living thing . Lets say an animal layed in some clay and then moved on and it left an impression in the clay. then some material filled the "cast" and it grew hard over time fossilizing the imprint
of the living organism

~ So as an actual definition of fossil we can say " A fossil is the preserved remains or traces of a living organism.

~ that will include actial animals like amber fossils, tracks of birds and animal footprints like dinosaurs fossils or indeed any other creature that left its mark in mud, clay, sandstone or tree sap

~ the definition of fossil includes feathers,flowers,leaf impressions, fern fossil imprints and insects in amber fossils teeth like shark teeth fossils and indeed dinosaur bones

~ Fossils allow us to take a little peek into the past and study prehistoric evolution hands- on
