| What is a fossil? ~ Fossils are the remains of plants or animals that lived a long time ago or the evidence of them.ains of plants or animals that lived a long time ago or the evidence of them. ~ some people believe that in order to be called fossil an inclusion had to be a living thing ~ But parts like feathers, hair and bones can be fossilized too and retain their flexibility and composition ~ But a fossil does not have to be the actual living thing, it can also be a "cast" of the living thing .
