Brownies:

2 1/3 cups melted shortening
5 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 ounce anise extract
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
72 blanched almonds

How to Make this Spanish Cookie Recipe
Cookies:
~ Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F or 120 degrees C
~ in a bowl add flour, sugar and cinnamon together.
~ mix well then add the melted shortening and mix again
~ add the anise extract and mix again
~ then knead the cookie dough for 5 minutes.
~ roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface
~ divide cookie dough into 1 inch balls ~ place the spanich cookie dough balls onto an ungreased cookie sheet taking care to leave about 2 inches space between them
~ Decorate each spanish cookie with an almond , make sure to push it safely into the cookie dough
~ bake the spanish cookie tray at 250 degrees F for half an hour
